10 Best TBS Shows, Ranked

The Daily Show’s Jason Jones and Samantha Bee (more on her later) co-created this comedy about a family whose roadtrip goes wildly off course. But Jones’ character isn’t just a doofus of a dad; he’s also a businessman targeted by the feds for reasons that viewers discover in this diverting four-season story.

In this comedy, creator and Saturday Night Live alum Nasim Pedrad plays a 14-year-old Persian boy stumbling through adolescence, trying to become popular at school, and surviving his mother’s dating life. Think Pen15 with a gender-flipping twist.

Two comedy champs unite as Tracy Morgan plays an ex-con adjusting to a rapidly gentrifying Brooklyn and Tiffany Haddish plays his ex-girlfriend and the mother of his children. Morgan and Haddish, known for over-the-top characters, offer sensitive and heartfelt performances… with outbursts of zaniness, of course.

TBS occasionally veered into animation, and this entry is an out-of-this-world standout. A human astronaut befriends a planet-destroying alien (a cute floating blob named Mooncake) as they work to solve an intergalactic mystery. Final Space’s comedy is hit or miss, but its serialized storyline sends viewers’ emotions into hyperdrive.

We don’t know who worked the miracle of getting Daniel Radcliffe and Steve Buscemi to team up onscreen, but the results — initially a comedy about God and his angel minions — were heavenly. And the cast — which includes the underrated Geraldine Viswanathan and Karan Soni — stuck around for different stories in different historical eras in later seasons.

Alien-invasion stories abound on TV, but rarely are they as funny and heartwarming as this comedy from Our Flag Means Death creator David Jenkins. Wyatt Cenac (another Daily Show alum) plays a journalist researching an alien-abductee support group… and finding that their stories, surprisingly, hit close to home.

We’ll take as many Rashida Jones projects as we can get, particularly ones created by Nancy and Steve Carell. In this police-procedural spoof, Jones’ detective leads the Really Heinous Crimes Unit. That sounds dire, but actually, each episode is a Really Hilarious Comedy Unit.

After the train wreck that was the Tonight Show handoff, Conan O’Brien and his #TeamCoco supporters found safe harbor at TBS. Conan took the late-night format to new horizons — and new countries through his Conan Without Borders episodes — and now O’Brien’s legacy stands even taller than his swooping red hair.

Before Only Murders in the Building, there was another dark comedy about entitled New Yorkers trying their hand at crimes-solving. Search Party blended tones and genres and generated genuine suspense as it followed self-involved Brooklynites involving themselves in the search for a missing acquaintance.

Fie on the Warner Bros. Discovery execs who canceled Full Frontal, one of the few female-fronted late-night shows and one that racked up 11 Emmy Award nominations! Bee’s satirical and no-holds-barred commentary on current affairs rivaled and sometimes surpassed that of The Daily Show, her previous employer, and our cultural conversation is worse without her Full Frontal insights.
