DI Geordie Keating (Robson Green) and Reverend Alphy Kotteram (Rishi Nair) are gonna drive that red Triumph Herald convertible into the sunset on August 2, 2026, as Grantchester airs its 11th and final season finale on PBS’s Masterpiece.

But don’t worry — tons of similar TV shows are ready to pull you in once Geordie and Alphy hang up their hats. After all, many Grantchester regulars have also starred on other detective shows. You could check out Green in Wire in the Blood, for example, or Morven Christie (Amanda Hopkins) in The Bay, Kacey Ainsworth (Cathy Keating) in Holby Blue, and Charlotte Ritchie (Bonnie Davenport) in Code of Silence.

But if you’re a Grantchester fan, we imagine you prefer your mysteries cozy, preferably with a crime-solving duo, ideally with a protagonist of the cloth. With that in mind, we direct your attention to the following TV shows.

Mark Williams as Father Brown in 'Father Brown'

Father Brown

Like Grantchester, this adaptation of G.K. Chesterton short stories also features a clergyman — in this case, Mark Williams as the titular character — solving crimes in mid-century England. (And Claudie Blakley, who played Agatha Redmond on Grantchester, has an even bigger role in Father Brown.) Currently streaming on BritBox and Hoopla.

Tom Bosley as Father Dowling and Tracy Nelson as Sister Stephanie in 'Father Dowling's Mysteries'

Father Dowling Mysteries

Father Brown inspired Father Dowling, protagonist of Ralph McInerny’s long-running mystery novel series. And McInerny’s stories inspired this rare American cozy mystery TV show, starring Tom Bosley as the titular Chicago priest and Tracy Nelson as sidekick Sister Stephanie. Currently available on DVD.

Lorna Watson as Sister Boniface in 'Sister Boniface Mysteries'
BritBox

Sister Boniface Mysteries

Speaking of nuns on the case, this show is a Father Brown spinoff featuring Lorna Watson as a habit-clad woman solving Cotswalds crimes. Sister Boniface Mysteries debuted nine years after Wilson introduced the character on Father Brown, but good things come to those who wait: It’s the best of BritBox’s original series, in our book. Currently streaming on BritBox and Hoopla.

Derek Jacobi as Brother Cadfael in 'Cadfael'

Cadfael

How about taking the crime-solving-clergyman concept back to medieval times? In this series, adapted from Ellis Peters novels, Derek Jacobi plays a 12-century Benedict monk, herbalist, and former crusader who investigates the crimes of the day from his post at Shrewsberry Abbey. Currently streaming on Britbox.

John Nettles as Tom Barnaby in 'Midsomer Murders'

Midsomer Murders

Since the late 1990s, TV viewers have watched two detective chief inspectors — first John Nettles (pictured here) as Tom Barnaby, then Neil Dudgeon as John Barnaby — cracking cases across the countryside of a fictional English county. In fact, the show was on so long th guest stars have included pre-fame Orlando Bloom, Olivia Colman, and Henry Cavill. Currently streaming on Acorn TV, The Roku Channel, Spectrum, Tubi, and YouTube TV.

Joan Hickson as Miss Marple in 'Miss Marple'

Miss Marple

Christie wanted Joan Hickson to play her amateur detective, and decades later, the mystery novelist’s wish came true. Every one of Christie’s dozen Miss Marple novels was adapted for the screen in this series, with Hickson winning a Royal Television Society honor for her performance as the smartypants spinster. Currently streaming on BritBox.

Essie Davis as Phryne Fisher in 'Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries'

Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries

Australia can get in on the cozy-mystery fun, too: Check out this detective dramedy starring Essie Davis as a private eye investigating crimes in 1920s Melbourne in this adaptation of Kerry Greenwood novels. The series inspired a big-screen movie, Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears, and a spinoff TV show, Ms. Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries. Currently streaming on Acorn TV, Hoopla, PBS, The Roku Channel, Spectrum, and YouTube TV.

Brenda Blethlyn as Vera Stanhope in 'Vera'

Vera

Meanwhile, back on the British Isles, a series Ann Cleeves novels begat this crime drama. Brenda Blethlyn plays Vera Stanhope, a veteran detective chief inspector figuring out whodunnit in Northumberland. We’re grant you, the show is more “mystery” than “cozy,” especially with that North Sea-adjacent setting. Currently streaming on BritBox.

Shaun Evans as Endeavour Morse in 'Endeavour'
ITV/PBS/Masterpiece/Courtesy: Everett Collection

Endeavour

One of the most popular British detective shows, Endeavour serves as a prequel to Inspector Morse, showing with Shaun Evans depicting how that character got his start as a detective in Oxford. Get a load of this show, then watch Inspector Morse and its spinoff Inspector Lewis. Currently streaming on PBS and Prime Video.

Thank Goodness for PBS! Not everyone can afford Brit Box, though if I ever can, that is my first choice of channels to get!! I hate that every time the "government" gives a COLA, it gets eaten up by insurance costs going up, not to mention groceries, utilities, etc. Older folk are not meant to have.any enjoyable things to watch. Just sit, drool, twiddling arthritic thumbs, and pray for quick way out. Can't remember the last time I saw a new movie.
