‘Superstore,’ ‘Claws,’ ‘Supergirl’ & More Shows Bidding Adieu in 2021
Parting is such sweet sorrow when it comes to fan favorites on TV and 2021 will make way for quite a few farewells.
Whether it’s CW hits like Supergirl and Black Lightning or comedy staples such as Superstore and Last Man Standing, this year will bid adieu to a variety of programming. Below, see a roundup of shows coming to an end in the new year.
Supergirl (The CW)
After six seasons, it’s up, up and away for Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist). But first, she has to save the world at least one more time! When last we saw the Girl of Steel and her super crew, Brainy (Jesse Rath) was near death, Alex (Chyler Leigh) had suited up as a new vigilante, and Lena (Katie McGrath) and Kara had finally made amends. Good thing, because it will take a united front to defeat Lena’s evil genius half brother, Lex Luthor (Jon Cryer), and the immortals of Leviathan (airdate TBA).
Conan (TBS)
After 10 years, funnyman Conan O’Brien exits his talk show in June. Next up: a variety program on HBO Max (Monday through Thursday, 11/10c)
Vikings (Amazon Prime Video/History)
Stream now or catch on cable later. The epic’s final 10 episodes — including a climactic battle between the Rus and the Vikings — wrap up Season 6 (Streaming now, airdate on History TBA).
Last Man Standing (Fox)
The sitcom’s ninth season takes the Baxters (Tim Allen and Nancy Travis) into the near future, just in time for father-of-three Mike to plot his retirement from Outdoor Man — and name a successor (Time–slot premiere Thursday, January 7, 9:30/8:30c).
Superstore (NBC)
Attention, Cloud 9 shoppers: The workplace comedy’s final 11 episodes (from Season 6) arrive soon (Returns Thursday, January 14, 8:30/7:30c).
Black Lightning (The CW)
Lightning strikes for one more season, the fourth. We’re hoping for some, ahem, shocking twists for the electric hero (Cress Williams) (Monday, February 8, 9/8c)
Claws (TNT)
Get your nails done one last time! The Florida-set high-crime comedy thriller returns for Season 4 (airdate TBA).
Dear White People (Netflix)
Though its message is timelier than ever, this dramedy — which fearlessly and wittily tackles race issues at an Ivy League school — signs off after four seasons (premiere date TBA).
The Kominsky Method (Netflix)
Just when we thought we couldn’t love this Golden Globe–winning senior comedy more: Kathleen Turner’s Roz, ex-wife of Sandy (Michael Douglas), will be a series regular for the farewell third season (premiere date TBA).
