Today host Carson Daly is embarking on a “new chapter” on Weekend Today — and he has Savannah Guthrie‘s enthusiastic support.
On Saturday, November 7, Daly made his official debut as the new co-anchor of Saturday Today. He had been filling in for Peter Alexander following the latter’s March exit from the network after more than 20 years. But as of Saturday, Daly is the permanent co-host alongside Laura Jarrett. (Willie Geist is still hosting Sunday Today.)
Daly took to Instagram the night before his first broadcast as the permanent Saturday Today co-host to mark the major milestone.
“Maybe slightly overwhelmed, but mostly incredibly grateful for all the well wishes & kind thoughts for my new Sat @todayshow gig,” he began the update. “I’m super excited for tomorrow. A new chapter, a new challenge, and a new opportunity to get better at what I love to do. I’m ready for it.”
To conclude his post, Daly shared, “Especially meaningful has been the internal support from all levels of our NBC News family. I hope to do you proud. It’ll be a process, gotta lot to learn & it all starts live tomorrow am with my partner @laurajarrett Cya then!”

Additionally, Guthrie popped into the comments to write, “Love you so much! So proud!”
Jarrett proclaimed, “So many good times ahead—bourbon, gummies and Levain included,” next to a brown heart emoji.

On November 7, Daly officially kicked off his new Saturday Today role with Jarrett — a moment he also celebrated on Instagram. Next to a snapshot of the two anchors, he declared, “It’s official!!! Saturday @todayshow with @laurajarrett.”
Today With Jenna & Sheinelle host Jenna Bush Hager exclaimed in the comments, “DAY 1,” alongside a red heart emoji.
