We’re only on the second episode of Outlander‘s fourth season, and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) have already been robbed and beaten.
After surviving Stephen Bonnet’s (Ed Speleers) attack, the crew on the river boat arrives at River Run, the estate/plantation owned by Jamie’s Aunt Jocasta (Maria Doyle Kennedy). But they will encounter more foes than friends in North Carolina.
There’s already friction between Jocasta and Claire because the Bostonian doctor voices her contempt regarding slavery, which in 18th century Colonial America, was a major part of life.
In the clip below, they disagree politely but the tension still hangs in the air.
