Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 2’s trailer offered fans a lot of insight into where the story of Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire’s (Caitriona Balfe) parents is heading in Starz‘s prequel spinoff to Outlander.

While Claire’s parents, Julia (Hermione Corfield) and Henry (Jeremy Irvine), found themselves at the standing stones of Craigh Na Dun in Season 1’s finale, the latest trailer reveals their fate just as Jamie’s parents, Brian (Jamie Roy) and Ellen (Harriet Slater), face a separation of their own amid rebellion in the Highlands.

Below, we’re breaking down some of the biggest reveals made in Outlander: Blood of My Blood‘s Season 2 trailer, including fancy parties, shock treatments, romance, and so much more for fans to dig into. Scroll down as we examine the standout moments, and don’t miss Blood of My Blood when it returns on Starz this fall.

MacKenzie & Fraser Family Bonding

It’s clear from the trailer that Brian will stand alongside Dougal (Sam Retford) and Murtagh (Rory Alexander) in battle as they fight for the Stuarts. While this common connection between them may be predestined by the events fans saw in Outlander, the last we saw the MacKenzies, they weren’t too fond of Brian for falling in love with Ellen and ruining their arranged marriage between her and Malcolm Grant (Jhon Lumsden).

Julia's Confession to Davina

After Julia is separated from Henry once again, she turns back to Castle Leathers, apparently, as she’s seen talking with Davina (Sara Vickers). During their conversation, Julia seemingly reveals the truth about her and Henry’s time traveling, suggesting she’ll have an ally who knows the full truth of her predicament.

Henry's Fate

Henry was seemingly the one to be sucked through time at Craigh Na Dun, and wherever he landed, he’s seemingly found himself trapped in an asylum as he receives shock therapy. Can he escape in order to be reunited with his family? Only time will tell.

Lord Lovat's Terror

While Lord Lovat (Tony Curran) remains one of the most vile characters in the Outlander universe, a brief clip hints at some karmic justice as he’s on the receiving end of Brian’s fury. With a dirk held to his neck, the terror is obvious in Lovat’s eyes, and we’d hate to say it wasn’t a tiny bit satisfying.

Murtagh's Promise of Protection

In Outlander, Murtagh was always a reliable protector to Claire and Jamie, and his long-held affection for Ellen continues to be on display in Season 2 as he promises to protect her in a scene with Brian. Echoes of the Murtagh we know from the original series are even more obvious as he steps into his role more certainly for Blood of My Blood‘s latest chapter.

MacKenzie Women in Action

Ellen is seen wielding a bow and arrow as she’s flanked by Jocatsa (Sadhbh Malin), Janet (Ailsa Davidson), and Mrs. Fitz (Sally Messham). What kind of threat could draw them together in such a way, seemingly in the halls of Castle Leoch? We’re eager to find out.

Dougal's Romance

When Ellen didn’t marry Malcolm in Season 1’s finale, Dougal ended up marrying the man’s sister, Maura Grant (Bobby Rainsbury). While their relationship was arranged, it seems like Season 2 could make way for more romantic moments between the duo who have found themselves bound together.

Lord Lovat Dresses Up

This brief flash of a party seemingly teases Lord Lovat’s presence at a fancy soiree, but where is the shindig taking place? The costumes remind us a bit of Claire and Jamie’s time in Paris, but with rebellion unfolding in Scotland, a side trip doesn’t seem like the most likely avenue. Either way, we’re excited to uncover what brings the often grotesque lord to refine his style.

Masquerade?

A figure is seen running through a garden while clad in fancy garments and what appears to be a mask. While we’d easily predict this is Brian Fraser, we’re curious what brings him to such an event and if Ellen is nearby. In other words, we’re excited to unmask the mystery.
