See Mark Harmon Back Onscreen in ‘NCIS: Origins’ Season 3 Premiere — New Details on His Life

One of the most shocking casting announcements for fall TV over the summer was Mark Harmon returning onscreen for all of the NCIS: Origins Season 3 episodes. Yes, present-day Leroy Jethro Gibbs is back, and now CBS has released details about his first appearance in the Season 3 premiere, airing on Tuesday, October 6, in a new time slot of 10/9c (new NCIS spinoff New York takes over the 9/8c slot).

When Harmon’s onscreen was first announced, it was teased that it’s “part of a present-day mystery tied to his ‘90s Camp Pendleton days in an action-packed story that unfolds all season long.” Now, in “Don’t You Forget About Me,” CBS teases, “In the present day, ghosts from the past of Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) finally catch up to him, shattering his peaceful retirement in Alaska. In 1992, the team races to rescue a kidnapped Randy (Caleb Foote) while Gibbs (Austin Stowell) and Lala (Mariel Molino) deal with the aftermath of their kiss.”

NCIS: Origins left off its second season with two cliffhangers in the ’90s timeline. As Lala was planning to leave, Gibbs hurried to stop her in a scene straight out of a rom-com and the two finally kissed. Meanwhile, Randy was taken in connection to his work digitizing the agency’s — rebranded from NIS to NCIS now— files.

The network has also released photos, which you can check out below, including ones of Harmon’s Gibbs in Alaska (and yes, the dog is still there). Plus, there’s one showing the ’90s team watching something — is it related to Randy’s disappearance?! After all, he’s the only one who would be in the office who’s not there…
