‘NCIS: New York’ Premiere Details & Photos Reveal Major Loss for Sam — Plus Meet His New Team
NCIS franchise fans know Sam Hanna well at this point. LL Cool J has starred in three shows as the special agent, with 14 seasons of Los Angeles, one of Hawai’i, and guest spots on the mothership (including the backdoor pilot that introduced his first spinoff). Now, he’s back and in the Big Apple and working with a new team in NCIS: New York, premiering on CBS on Tuesday, October 6, at 9/8c.
The logline for that first episode reveals what brings him home to New York: “After years of special assignments and covert ops, Special Agent Sam Hanna (LL COOL J) returns to his hometown of New York City for a brand-new mission. When Sam’s friend and Navy reservist Jack Halloway is found dead, he requests permission from Assistant Special Agent-In-Charge Robyn Wells (Jennifer Beals) to investigate his friend’s death. Robyn pairs Sam with roguish agent Nick Schaeffer (Scott Caan), who introduces him to the rest of the team: clean-cut Wyatt Sellers (Shane Harper), bright-eyed Addy Ross (Jacqueline Byers) and hacker-turned-computer guy Sean Sullivan (Devin Druid). As the team investigates Jack’s death, they work together to gather key information that can help find the culprits.”
CBS has also released photos from the first episode, which you can check out below, and they offer a look at all the characters. The trailer that was released on August 18 focuses on Sam joining the team and some good-natured ribbing between him and Nick. We’ll have to wait to see the dynamics within the team and how adding Sam to that changes things.

I think it's ridiculous to cast Scott Caan when there are so many good actors out there who HAVEN'T been in the NCIS:Los Angeles crossover. He's also been in a very short lived police drama since leaving Hawaii-Five-0. Is that all he can do now? Very disappointing casting.

McGarret is going to be unhappy Dano

Here I thought I was the only one that felt that way. I think he’s awful and I really like LL Cool J but they really look ridiculous together

What's wrong with Scott Caan? I like him as an actor. LL Cool J and Chris O'Donnell did well together, and if Scott's character has a similar personality, it may work.

Looking forward to the new series. Hopefully Scott Caan won't be his annoying self as in Hawai 5-0

Was it called Hawaii 5-0 because that’s how tall he is?

I think they're both nuts and should give it a chance.

I look forward to seeing the show. I thought Scott would reprise his Hawaii Five-O role as Danno. It would be feasible especially since the characters crossed paths when NCIS Los Angeles and Hawaii Five O had a crossover episode. Danny always talked about going back home to New York, and with Steve McGarrett leaving Five-O and Danny's daughter graduating from high school, it makes since that he could have decided to return home to start something new.

ugh. Scott Caan? perhaps his character will be killed off after a couple of episodes...
not sure why they didn't keephis character from 5-0 (not that it was any better) since they had a crossover with NCIS...
disappointing... they have really wrung out NCIS... 'Origins' seems to be a good show, wish it had more episodes...

I’m done with this show, it’s just too much for me. Another NCIS show? It’s gonna be the same storyline as the others except in a different location. I didn’t watch any of the other spinoffs and I have basically checked out of the original NCIS show because I think they’ve run out of ideas and it’s time to move on. Just my opinion, I loved it when it first started because it was exciting and compelling and the casting was excellent as well as the storyline between Tony and Kate and then Tony and Ziva and the “ will they won’t they “ aspect plot line. It just has lost it’s magic now
