Jessica Jones (Jessica Jones)

The first season of Netflix’s inaugural Marvel show was incredible for a myriad of reasons, but it was truly remarkable in its portrayal of PTSD. Jessica was forced to commit awful acts and was raped by the villainous Kilgrave, and throughout the show she struggles to come to terms with what she did and what was done to her. While all of her coping mechanisms aren’t the healthiest, it’s refreshing that her mental illness isn’t treated as a plot device or discarded when the show finds it inconvenient.

Get ready for an extra dose of girl power this International Women’s Day—Marvel’s Jessica Jones is back!

The Netflix series returns for its highly-anticipated second season on the March holiday, and judging by a sneak peek from the streaming network, it was worth the wait.

In newly-released photos, we see the titular Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) brooding her way around New York City—nothing too new for the private investigator. However, according to the teaser, this is Jessica putting her life back together after taking down the villainous Kilgrave (David Tennant).

Speaking of Kilgrave, he also is shown in the preview images, though it’s unclear if it’s from a flashback. That’s the more likely case, as Jessica has bigger fish to fry now that she’s known throughout NYC as a super-powered killer.

Click through the gallery above to see some of the returning cast—Rachael Taylor (Trish Walker), Carrie-Anne Moss (Jeri Hogarth), Eka Darville (Malcolm Ducasse)— and new cast members Janet McTeer and J.R. Ramirez in action. Plus, watch a new trailer below:
