‘House of the Dragon’ Reveals Fiery Targaryen War in First Season 2 Teaser (VIDEO)
It’s a reign of fire for the Targaryens in the first teaser trailer for House of the Dragon Season 2 which is set to premiere in Summer 2024 on HBO and Max.
Unveiled during a panel at CCXP23 in São Paulo, Brazil, the teaser offers fans a closer look at the brewing tensions between former friends Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) and Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke). Seeking revenge for the death of her young son Lucerys (Elliot Grihault) who was killed in Season 1’s final moments, things are about to get bloody and fiery as war on dragon back ensues in the thrilling first look, above.
The eight-episode season continues the story of House Targaryen as told in George R.R. Martin‘s Fire & Blood. Set 200 years before Game of Thrones, Westeros is being ruled by a house divided, hinting at the family’s doomed fate with the Iron Throne. As teased, above, back for the fun are D’Arcy and Cooke who are joined by fellow returning stars Matt Smith, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, Rhys Ifans, Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall, and Matthew Needham.
Along with unveiling the exciting teaser trailer, HBO also announced several new cast members set to join previously announced additions, as well as new photography of fan-favorite characters.
Joining the fray for Season 2 are Clinton Liberty as Addam of Hull, Jamie Kenna as Ser Alfred Broome, Kieran Bew as Hugh, Tom Bennett as Ulf, Tom Taylor as Lord Cregan Stark, and Vincent Regan as Ser Rickard Thorne. They are among the latest Season 2 stars announced, joining fellow newbies Abubakar Salim as Alyn of Hull, Gayle Rankin as Alys Rivers, Freddie Fox as Ser Gwayne Hightower, and Simon Russell Beale as Ser Simon Strong.
Co-created by Martin and showrunner Ryan Condal, they executive produce the show with Sara Hess, Alan Taylor, Melissa Bernstein, Kevin de la Noy, Loni Peristere, and Vince Gerardis.
