‘Freeridge’: See New Core Four & ‘On My Block’ Returning Cast in First Teaser (PHOTOS)
Freeridge is here to keep the On My Block legacy going. Netflix shared the first teaser for the spinoff on Friday, January 6, introducing the new core four of the upcoming comedy.
Starring in the series are Abbott Elementary breakout Keyla Monterroso Mejia as Gloria, Bryana Salaz as Ines, Ciara Riley Wilson as Demi, and Tenzing Norgay Trainor as Cameron. And in the Freeridge trailer, they find themselves stuck with a cursed box they really don’t want in their possession.
“Freeridge is a coming of age comedy following sibling rivals Gloria and Ines and their friends Demi and Cameron who have unleashed a curse bringing dark misfortune into their lives,” Netflix teases, adding that these neighborhood kids have “an unforgettable adventure” on their hands. Freeridge premieres February 2 on Netflix. The season consists of eight 30-minute episodes.
The four teens were briefly introduced in the final scenes of On My Block, when the OG foursome saw Gloria, Ines, Demi, and Cameron peering over the fence to check out their backyard party just as they had done seasons prior. The teaser above gives the first glimpse into the uproarious personalities of this new crew. And by the looks of their shenanigans, it seems like Freeridge is bound to entertain.
While the original teens from On My Block are not returning, there’s a handful of On My Block adults reprising their roles in Freeridge. Paula Garcés, Eric Gutierrez, Eme Ikwuakor, and Raushanah Simmons will all be back in the new episodes, along with new characters played by Peggy Blow in a new series regular role, Jami Alix, Michael Solomon, Zaire Adams, J.R. Villarreal, and Jean Paul San Pedro.
Freeridge was created by Lauren Iungerich, who also serves as showrunner and executive producer. Co-creators and executive producers include Jamie Uyeshiro, Eddie Gonzalez, Jeremy Haft, and Jamie Dooner. Iungerich, Gonzalez, and Haft co-created On My Block.
