As fans witnessed, Season 2 made way for a precarious balancing act as Russ Holliday (Glen Powell) tried to maintain his identity as the titular Chad Powers, while also smoothing over tensions with coach and crush Ricky (Perry Mattfeld). The results were mixed as more people were let in on the reality of Chad’s double identity, and Russ managed to make progress in other areas. Will Russ and Ricky pursue romance?

After holding back from each other for so long, Russ and Ricky finally gave in to their romantic feelings, as he declared his love and she leaned in for a rather steamy kiss. But is a relationship possible as we look ahead to a potential third season? Realistically, the issue of a coach and player being involved was already broached in Season 2, and even with those to protect the secret, it’s unclear if Ricky will even stick around long enough to let audiences find out after she was offered a coaching gig elsewhere.

Is Ricky going to stay?

As mentioned above, Rick was offered another coaching job at a different school. While she was resolved to take on the gig, could new developments get in the way? After more people learned the truth about Chad and her dad’s status as a coach became muddier, it is possible that Ricky would change her mind and stick it out with the South Georgia Catfish. And we’d be lying if we said we weren’t hoping that’s the case.

What kind of operation will Tricia run?

Danny (Frankie A. Rodriguez) got Tricia (Wynn Everett) involved in the scheme when he sought help from her amid Gerry’s targeted attack on Russ. A booster for the team, we know Tricia has a lot of money, enough to own a jet, but what kind of lengths would she go to in order to protect Chad’s true identity? We’re eager to find out, as it became clear in Season 2 that she can be ruthless when needed.

Is Russ's identity going to be revealed?

The secret behind Chad Powers’ true identity has been a looming threat to Russ Holliday since Season 1, and considering his rising star as South Georgia’s quarterback, we can’t imagine protecting the truth would become easier. Will the jig be up before the series is through? If Season 3 is picked up, we’re dying to find out.

Will Coach Hudson actually retire?

Coach Hudson (Steve Zahn) walked in on Ricky and Chad when they were kissing in Season 2’s finale, with the intention of informing Ricky about his plan to retire. Along with potentially exposing Chad’s identity as Russ to Coach Hudson, the moment also called into question his initial resolve to retire. While it was ordered by Coach Hudson’s doctor that he retire after he suffered a heart attack, he was in denial most of Season 2. Could Season 3 set him down the path he started to walk, or see him backtrack?

Is Gerry done seeking revenge?

Gerry’s plan to blackmail Russ was foiled when Tricia intervened, but does that mean he’s been stopped for good? When someone is as determined as Gerry, we wouldn’t bet against the idea that he’d strike again. The task may be a little harder with Tricia’s protection in place, though.

Will others get promoted?

If Coach Hudson stepped back from his duties, would Ricky, Coach Byrd (Quentin Plair), and Coach Dobbs (Clayne Crawford) all get a promotion? While Ricky planned to leave, could a better offer with the South Georgia Catfish keep her in place, and if Chad’s true identity is revealed, how would that impact the rest of the coaching staff, especially if their contracts are increased from what they were? There’s certainly much to consider.
