NBC Announces Fall Premiere Dates: ‘Blindspot’ and ‘The Good Place’ Get Preview Airings

Today NBC announced the premiere dates of its 2016-17 fall season. Things pretty much adhere to the plan the Peacock network laid out during its upfront presentation in May, except that their sophomore hit Blindspot, along with two of their new shows, will get preview airings before settling into their usual timeslots.

Blindspot is technically the first show coming back, with Season 2 on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 10/9c, after the season finale of America’s Got Talent. The following week it moves to its Wednesdays at 8/7c home. Mike Schur’s The Good Place gets a preview on Tuesday, Sept. 19 at 10/9c, after the 11th season premiere of The Voice (with new coaches Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys), then settles into its spot on Thursdays at 8:30/7:30c on Sept. 22.

This Is Us will air at 10/9c, after the Tuesday Voice episode, for 3 weeks starting September 20. It makes its debut in the 9/8c slot on Oct. 11. The final new fall show, Timeless, debuts Monday, Oct. 3, at 10/9c.

    Love Blindspot, but I'm surprised NBC placed it in the 8 o'clock hour. Seems like shows with heavy violence typically don't air in the first hour of the primetime block.

      That's what I thought when I first heard about it. Whatever happened to the idea of "Family Hour" where the shows weren't supposed to contain language, sex, or violence that were inappropriate for small children? Even seemingly tame 8:00 shows like Big Bang Theory have suggestive language and sexual situations I'm not sure are appropriate for small children.

      Kids already know that violence sex and suggest language from watching movies the internet even u tube so it d not make a difference anymore also where is grimm

      I'm talking about *small* children under 6, 7, or so years of age. I would hope they aren't surfing the internet without adult supervision. Except for season 2, Grimm has never started at the very beginning of the season. It has started near the end of October. This coming season may even be delayed more since it's being cut down to 13 episodes.

      Their Nick Cannon Friday offering just screams filler program. Agreed with Grimm's late return. I'm seeing them burning off Emerald City when nobody is really watching in December/January and maybe having Grimm join in before premiering Midnight, Texas in the slot.
