Bob Costas on his NBC Olympics future: “I’d like to leave when it’s my decision”

“You don’t want to overstay your welcome,” Costas, who will be working his 12th Olympic games in Rio, said in an interview with fellow NBC Football Night in America colleague Dan Patrick. Patrick brought up this week’s news that Mike Tirico was joining NBC Sports (Tirico has been mentioned as a possible Olympics successor to Costas) . “At least he’s one of my Syracuse guys,” Costas said in response.
