Disney's 'Tangled: Before Ever After' Untangles Life Before Marriage
Rapunzel and Flynn may have been set to live happily ever after—but how did the couple make their way there?
Well, Disney Channel's latest series, Tangled: Before Ever After seeks to answer that question. Set after the events of 2010's Tangled—which saw the princess and her beau return to the Kingdom of Corona—but before the 2012 short film (Tangled Ever After) which had the pair getting married, the animated show will focus on Rapunzel as she gets to know her parents and the people of her kingdom.
Mandy Moore (Red Band Society) and Zachary Levi (Telenovela) will be back as Rapunzel and
Eugene Flynn. Also back? Transparent's Jeffrey Tambor and BoJack Horseman's Paul F. Tompkins who will both be reprising their roles as Big Nose and Shorty, two thugs who frequent the Snuggly Duckling Pub, and The Kingdom's M.C. Gainey as the Captain of the Guards.
The cast will also feature Ashley Judd (Divergent) and Clancy Brown (Chicago P.D.) as Queen Arianna and King Frederic, Rapunzel's parents. A few other new characters include Sean Hayes (Will & Grace) as Pete the Guard, Jeremy Jordan (Supergirl) as Varian the teen alchemist and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Lost) as Xavier the blacksmith.
The series will also feature music by legendary Disney musician Alan Menken (who recently showed his Academy Award-winning chops on ABC's Galavant) and lyricist Glenn Slater. Emmy Award-winner Kevin Kliesch—who also worked on Tangled Ever After—will serve as the show's score composer.
Tangled: Before Ever After will premiere on the Disney Channel in 2017.
