Exclusive: Discovery Channel’s New Series ‘Trailblazers’ Goes Off the Beaten Path
The Discovery Channel is taking you on another wild ride with people who throw caution to the wind for a living. TV Insider has learned exclusively that the network’s newest series, Trailblazers, will follow three survivalists who help scientists reach remote corners of the world in search of medical breakthroughs.

The six-part series will follow trailblazers Gary Humphrey (who served in the Royal Marines and UK Special Forces), Nick Koumalatsos (who was part of the Marine Corps Special Ops) and Shaun Keilen (a former Navy SEAL, pictured above) as they lead teams of scientists to exotic places like Papua New Guinea, Bolivia and Ecuador. Harsh conditions, terrains and encounters with wildlife abound as the teams try to find the latest scientific discovery while the trailblazers work to make sure everyone makes it through each journey in one piece.
October Films is producing Trailblazers with Chris Muckle, Jake Laufer and Matt Robins as executive producers, while from Discovery Channel’s Christo Doyle serves an executive producer with Katlyn Higgins as an associate producer.
