'Outlander' Star Sam Heughan Would Love to Play James Bond
Sam Heughan might be taking on another famous character named James.
According to the Outlander star, who plays Highland warrior Jamie Fraser, he would love to play Bond, James Bond, when current 007 actor Daniel Craig is ready to retire his gun.
Heughan was participating in a Facebook Live session to promote his new action movie, The Spy Who Dumped Me, when fans asked if he'd consider taking on the coveted role of the fictional British Secret Service agent.
The question was: "Are you really in the running for James Bond? Please say yes."
"Well if you would like me to, of course I will," the Scotsman said. "I feel like I’ve got the tuxedo and I’ve got the car from this movie so I could just take them with me."
"So, really actually they don’t need to pay me that much because I can bring everything with me," he added.
Craig has occupied the role of Bond since 2006, and has starred in four movies, with the fifth installment — Bond 25 — set for a November 2019 release date. He's hinted that this one will be his last one.
Meanwhile, Heughan just wrapped filming the fourth season of Outlander (out in November 2018) and is preparing for his next movie role alongside Vin Diesel in Bloodshot.
Outlander has a tough filming schedule — usually starting in the winter and continuing until late spring. Accepting the role of James Bond would halt Outlander filming. The movie franchise is notoriously difficult to shoot because of the use of multiple, remote locations and high-tech stunt sequences.
But rest easy, Heughan hasn't been offered the role (yet!) and another Bond movie wouldn't potentially be released until the early 2020s.
