'Outlander' EP Matthew B. Roberts Discusses Moving to the New World in Season 4
It’s a whole New World. In Season 4 of the smart, sexy Outlander saga, time-traveling surgeon Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) and 18th-century Scotsman Jamie (Sam Heughan) take their epic romance to the American colonies.
"Jamie and Claire will be finding and making a home, but fate and destiny never allow them to just relax," exec producer Matthew B. Roberts says. "They’re dealing with living in the wilderness, the players in the nascent American Revolution — and a new villain who’s a pure psychopath."
Back in the 20th century, their daughter, Brianna (Sophie Skelton), and her boyfriend, historian Roger Wakefield (Richard Rankin), hit a rough patch in their long-distance relationship. Says Roberts: "Even when they see each other, they’re still not in the same place" about their future.
Plus, fans of Drums of Autumn, the fourth title in Diana Gabaldon’s bestselling Outlander series, are in for a treat. "The premiere follows the book quite a bit in the opening scenes," Roberts promises. "It all starts out with a bang."
