Ten months after NBC canceled Timeless—and nine months and 27 days after fan demand revived it—the time-travel drama is back, “invigorated, energized and emboldened,” says executive producer Shawn Ryan.

NBC's time-travel drama is back nearly a year after fans saved it from cancellation.

Historian Lucy Preston (Abigail Spencer), soldier Wyatt Logan (Matt Lanter) and scientist Rufus Carlin (Malcolm Barrett) will still fly into past eras, starting in World War I France, with 1940s Hollywood and witchy 17th-century Salem to come. Their mission: Stop the remaining Rittenhouse conspirators from manipulating history to benefit a group of powerful families.

Shocking betrayals, however, have forced the three heroes underground. Most painful, Lucy’s mother, Carol (Susanna Thompson), who is part of “a Rittenhouse splinter cell that wasn’t brought to justice last season,” Ryan says. The focus now is “the push-pull of Lucy and her two families—her mother, and Rufus and Wyatt.”
