‘Law & Order’ Revival Is on Hold for Now

Dick Wolf has four shows currently on NBC—Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., and freshman series Chicago Med—but the rumored revival of Law & Order has been put on the back burner.

“Nothing’s happening on that right now,” NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke told TVInsider after the network’s executive panel. “We did talk about doing a limited Law & Order miniseries, but we’re focused on the Chicago world right now. You might see another show coming out of that before you see Law & Order [return].”

And with L&O‘s spinoff, SVU, holding its own in its 17th season, Salke expressed optimism the show would stick around. “I hope that we’re not ending that series…right now, we’re hoping that show returns,” she said. “But we’re in a negotiation with all of that.”

Whenever the end does come for SVU, “we would announce that as the last,” Salke said. “We would give the audience plenty of time to let that show have a resolution that paid of for everybody. But I don’t think we’re there yet.”
