‘The Voice’: Riley Green Reveals What He’s Most Excited for in Upcoming Live Shows
What To Know
- Riley Green is in his debut season as a coach on The Voice.
- The country singer opened up about the upcoming Live Shows and what he’s most excited for about them.
- Green also dished on working with fellow coaches Adam Levine, Queen Latifah, and Kelly Clarkson.
Riley Green is in the midst of his debut season as a coach on The Voice, and he’ll get to experience another first on the show when the Live Shows begin November 9. The country singer is particularly excited for this portion of the competition to begin because it will put the decision-making in viewers’ hands for the first time.
“The fun think about the [Live Shows] is I’ll be finding out [results] like everybody else,” he told People. “And I’m really excited that I’m not having to send people home. I’m glad America can do it and I’ll just try to help them along the way.”
Before that happens, though, the biggest elimination of the season will take place during Cut Week on November 2. All four coaches head into this round with seven singers on their teams. Right off the bat, based on what they’ve seen in the Blind Auditions and Battle Rounds, they’ll each choose two to take to the Live Shows. The remaining five contestants on each team will perform again for their shot, but only one from each team will move forward.

That means the coaches will head into the Live Shows with three singers (12 total), although one of them will have a four-person team, as a 13th artist will move forward based on viewer votes.
“Queen Latifah, Adam Levine, Kelly Clarkson, Carson Daly … I couldn’t have picked better people to be around,” Green said of his fellow coaches and host Daly. “They’ve been great.”
He and Latifah will be returning for Season 31 of The Voice next spring, along with new coach Joe Jonas. The special eventized season will consist of celebrity contestants who are all taking their shot at a singing career.
“I don’t think any of us fully anticipated how competitive they would be,” Morrissey told TV Insider. “And then you realize, ‘Oh, they didn’t get to where they are by accident. These people grind it out. They put in the work. They want to be the best they can be.'”
