Jenna Bush Hager helped Sheinelle Jones face one of her fears on Today With Jenna & Sheinelle.
Jones began the show’s Thursday, October 29, episode by walking onto the set alone. “Today is a very big day here at Jenna & Sheinelle. And you may be wondering, ‘Well, where is Jenna, Sheinelle Marie?’ Well, let me tell you. Today is National Cat Day,” she announced. “If you’ve been watching the show, you may have noticed Jenna’s love of cats.”
The show aired a montage of Bush Hager gushing over cats on Jenna & Sheinelle. “Since we haven’t met one of Jenna’s furry children, would you like to meet one of Jenna’s furry children?” Jones asked before announcing, “Alright, come on out, Jenna Bus Hager and Maisie Moo Bush Hager.”
Bush Hager walked into Studio 1A sporting a colorful hoodie with a cat pouch. “First of all, we got this on Instagram, and it’s not exactly as it was ordered,” she quipped before taking her cat out of the wearable carrier. The cohosts joked that they had to take medicine that morning because they are allergic to cats.
“Can I just tell you something? I host a nature show on Saturday mornings. I love animals. I have never held a cat,” Jones, who has vocalized her fear of cats on Today, shared.
Bush Hager handed over Maisie for Jones to hold. Despite being hesitant at first, Jones was ultimately surprised by the cat, comparing Maisie to a stuffed animal and a baby. Maisie even meowed while relaxing in Jones’ arms.
“I think that she can roam free. Let’s not open the doors, but let’s just let Maisie do what she wants to do while we have our chat,” Bush Hager said while placing her cat on the ground. Maisie adorably wandered around the Today set as the co-hosts continued their morning conversation.
“Have I changed your mind?” Bush Hager asked Jones about her opinion of cats. While Jones enjoyed her on-air moment with Maisie, it wasn’t enough to completely erase her fear. “Uh, no,” she replied.
Before throwing to their first commercial break, Bush Hager and Jones burst into laughter after the cast of the new film The Mosquito Bowl — Bill Skarsgård, Tom Francis, Nicholas Galitzine, and Ray Nicholson — were shown holding Maisie backstage. “No! Stop!” Bush Hager shouted, while Jones remarked, “That is hilarious!”
