Shannon Leigh Godwin, from Oakland, California, entered her fourth game with a three-day total of $40,602. For game number four on October 28, the interior designer played against Spencer Murphy, from Menlo Park, California, and Stefanie Landeweer, from Lexington Park, Maryland. Warning: Spoilers for the Wednesday, October 28, episode of Jeopardy! ahead!
In Double Jeopardy, Murphy, an endocrinologist, ran an entire category and took a big lead with 22 correct responses. Landeweer, a chemistry professor, found both Daily Doubles in the round back-to-back, but still couldn’t take the lead by the end of it.
By the end of the Double Jeopardy round, Godwin was in third place with $5,000. Landeweer had $13,400. Murphy led with $19,200.
The Final Jeopardy clue in “Current TV Streaks” was “The longest-tenured male actor on a primetime show, he released the now ironically titled album Home Invasion back in 1993.” Two of the game show contestants had the correct response.
Godwin responded with “Who is Ice-T?” She was correct and wagered $5,000. This made her final total $10,600. Ice-T is an actor best known for being on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit since its second season; it’s now in its 28th. However, before he starred in many films and TV shows, Ice-T was a rapper. Home Invasion was his fifth studio album. He recently released Criminal Migraine, a mixtape, earlier this year.
Landeweer also had the correct response. She wagered $6,000, giving her $19,400. Muprhy’s response was “Who is Tim Allen?” Since he was incorrect, he dropped to $11,599 after wagering $7,601.
Landeweer won the game, taking home $19,400, ending Godwin’s streak. Godwin joins the multi-day champions, who have not yet made it to five wins. She will return on Thursday for her second game.
“I just love the idea that this guy is the longest-tenured prime-time TV male actor. 30 years ago, even he would have laughed at that,” a Reddit user said.
“Dun-dun. Got this one no problem,” another wrote.
