The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders have scored a legal victory against rock band My Chemical Romance after the band featured dancers in knockoff cheerleader uniforms during a controversial concert stunt, as first reported by the New York Post.

According to legal documents, Pro Silver Star Ltd., the parent entity and owner of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (DCC), filed for a temporary restraining order and injunction against the group following an October 21 performance at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl.

The theatrical show, set within a dystopian dictatorship as part of the band’s “The Black Parade” production, featured pyrotechnics, simulated gunfire, and a staged military-style routine. Female dancers, dressed in blue-and-white vest-and-shorts sets identical to the trademarked DCC uniforms, marched onto the stage carrying replica semi-automatic rifles. The costumed performers joined in a mock shootout before being gunned down on stage and crawling off into the wings. In other videos circulating online, the fake cheerleaders were seen dancing behind frontman and The Umbrella Academy executive producer Gerard Way as he sang.

In the legal complaint filed by prominent attorney Alex Spiro, the DCC organization argued that the violent routine degraded its family-friendly brand. The filing showed side-by-side uniform comparisons next to social media posts showing concertgoers and users who were fooled into believing actual Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders were participating during the moment.

After being faced with the emergency legal filing, My Chemical Romance agreed to retire the outfits. Attorney correspondence included in the court documents confirmed the band “will not be performing any remaining shows on its current tour with dancers in the cheerleader costumes,” resolving the dispute ahead of their scheduled Hollywood Bowl concerts on October 30 and 31.

The win caps off a week of headlines for the cheerleading squad off the field. Following heightened public scrutiny and fan support sparked by Netflix’s hit docuseries America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, which documented their fight for a 400% pay raise. Current members recently announced steps toward unionizing to secure higher compensation, fair wages, and stronger labor protections across the professional cheerleading industry.
