What ‘Scrubs’ Finale Details Reveal About Dr. Cox’s Future
What To Know
- Scrubs‘ Season 2 finale will be a holiday episode.
- Find out what it’s revealing about Dr. Cox’s next move.
Scrubs‘ Season 2 finale is in sight as ABC unveiled that the 10th episode, “My Wonderful Life,” will arrive this December on the network.
Yes, for now, the revival’s latest chapter will conclude before the new year with an appropriately holiday-themed angle that also offers insight into what’s next for Dr. Cox (John C. McGinley), who is set to return. Airing Wednesday, December 9, at 8/7c, the finale follows J.D. (Zach Braff) and Dr. Cox as they work on a tricky case together over Christmas.
Meanwhile, Elliot (Sarah Chalke) manages an ER that is overflowing with patients and a surprising amount of holiday cheer, per the installment’s logline.
As fans will recall, Dr. Cox’s fate was left uncertain after he was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder, but after some trial-and-error testing and treatments, his predicament was under control by the start of Season 2. But what could bring him back to work? After he retired from his position as Chief of Medicine at Sacred Heart Hospital and passed on the duty to mentee J.D., it seemed like he was leaving the place in his metaphorical rearview mirror.

Could a special patient, case, or connection be responsible for his participation in the holiday-set episode? Only time will tell, but we can already envision that the comedy will deliver laughs and most likely tears, as the title indicates an homage to It’s a Wonderful Life, Frank Capra‘s 1946 classic centered around Bedford Falls everyman George Bailey (Jimmy Stewart).
Meanwhile, for fans worried about Season 2’s 10-episode run, rest assured that Season 1 of the revival only consisted of nine episodes, so there’s no cause for major concern about the brief run. We’ll keep our eyes and ears open for a potential Season 3 renewal, and let us know what you think of the finale episode’s tease in the comments section below.
