Scrubs is shaking things up in the latest episode, which sees J.D. (Zach Braff) and Elliot (Sarah Chalke) celebrate Turk’s (Donald Faison) birthday alongside their current partners, Charlie (Rachel Bilson) and Sean (Scott Foley). Warning: Spoilers for Scrubs Season 2 Episode 5 ahead!

In the installment, “My Best Friend’s Birthday,” J.D. struggles with finding time to give Charlie the proper attention, while also juggling his job as a doctor, and the same can be said for Elliot, who leaves Sean sitting for her in the waiting room while she tends to patients. As Turk gears up to celebrate his birthday, he informs J.D. and Elliot that Carla (Judy Reyes) is away with his kids to give him a break for a night out to dinner.

Both J.D. and Elliot want to use the birthday as an occasion to spend time with their significant others, though, essentially making Turk a fifth wheel at his own party.

Despite the already tense vibes, the dinner is thrown off-kilter when hospital duties call, and J.D. and Elliot notice a waiter at the restaurant needs immediate medical intervention, forcing everyone to return to Sacred Heart.

While J.D., Elliot, and Turk get to work, Sean and Charlie take a bottle of wine to the pediatrics department where Frozen is playing. One thing leads to another, and by the time J.D. and Elliot wrap up their jobs, Charlie and Sean are engaging in an extremely steamy makeout session.

Needless to say, J.D. and Elliot’s romances are over with Charlie and Sean, but where does that leave them moving forward? Are they destined to be each other’s endgame?
