A dead end. A Wheel of Fortune contestant covered their face in horror and groaned after failing to drive out of the studio in a new car, causing the week to be a shutout in the Bonus Round. The game was tight at the end, with only a few hundred dollars separating two players.

Carolyn Munoz, from Chicago, Illinois, solved two Fortune Frenzies on October 23. The Metallica fan played against Dan Salerno, from Santa Monica, California, and Travis Page, from Denver, Colorado.

During the first round, Munoz obtained a Wild Card, but used it to get a free letter. She got two C’s and then solved the puzzle — “A Piece of the Action.” She took the lead with $10,700.

Page, co-owner of a software company and a tattoo shop with his friends, who is getting married next year, solved the “Before & After” puzzle — “Ice Cream Social Studies.” He got $1,000 in his bank because his opponents solved the letters, but he guessed the puzzle.

During the Prize Puzzle, Page rode the Express Train and guessed a few letters, but when he guessed “N,” it wasn’t in the puzzle, so he went Bankrupt. Salerno, a former police captain, picked a few letters before solving “I’m Flabbergasted!” He won a trip to Curaçao, giving him $8,160.

Salerno solved two Triple Toss-ups, putting himself in the lead. Munoz solved the third, jumping back into the lead by only $60.

For another $4,000, Page solved the final puzzle — “Up Where We Belong.” This gave him a final total of $6,000.

Salerno won $12,160. Munoz won the game by only a few hundred dollars with $12,700. She advanced to the Bonus Round, where she chose “What Are You Doing?”

Wheel of Fortune gave her “R,S,T,L,N, and E.” The game show contestant rounded out her puzzle with “G,H,Y, and O.”

The puzzle then looked like “_ _ _ _NG  THE  _L_G.” As the clock counted down, Munoz guessed “Putting the Plug,” “Pulling the Plug,” and “Making The Glog.”

“How do you make a glog, exactly?” host Ryan Seacrest joked. This week was a shutout for Bonus Round wins.

It was “Waving the Flag.” She lost out on taking home the BMW. Munoz covered her face and groaned, “Oh my God! No!” at her loss.
