Country music royalty is headed to Athens.

Thomas Boyer Bryan (who goes by “Bo” to family and fans), a class of 2027 quarterback and the son of American Idol judge and country star Luke Bryan, announced his commitment to the Georgia Bulldogs on Sunday.

According to ESPN, the 6-foot, 205-pound pocket passer from Tennessee’s Battle Ground Academy committed to Kirby Smart’s team just days after receiving his first-ever Power 4 scholarship offer from the program on October 19.

Bo confirmed his decision via a post on his X account. “Only place I wanna be Athens I’m coming home,” he wrote in the caption.

Followers expressed their support for Bo on his post with one user commenting, “Congratulations! Welcome to the Dawg family!” Another user wrote: “All of us are cheering for you. Can’t wait to see you soon.”

In an additional statement to other outlets, the 18-year-old doubled down on his connection to the university, saying, “I bleed red and black. I’m home.”

Bo has been a longtime Georgia fan and chose the Bulldogs over multiple smaller program offers. His father is a native of Leesburg, Georgia and has been a regular attendee at Bulldogs games on the sidelines and even headlined a historic sold-out concert at Sanford Stadium with fellow country star Jason Aldean in the spring.

The commitment marks a milestone for Bo who is currently recovering from an injury. As reported last week, the rising star suffered a season-ending collarbone injury earlier this month, bringing a premature halt to his campaign where he racked up 2,006 passing yards and 30 touchdowns to just three interceptions.

Bryan becomes the second quarterback to pledge to Georgia’s 2027 recruiting class, along with four-star passer Colton Nussmeier, the son of New Orleans Saints offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier and younger brother of NFL quarterback Garrett Nussmeier. The Bulldogs are also building momentum for future cycles, having landed a commitment from his Battle Ground Academy teammate, 2028 offensive tackle Koehn Dial, earlier in the week.

As Smart’s program prepares for its upcoming rivalry clash against Florida, the future in Athens looks bright both on the gridiron and in the country music world.
