Avengers: Doomsday (along with 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars) is the two-part finale to Marvel’s post-Endgame multiverse saga. Over the past six years, the MCU has introduced new heroes, villains, and details to its ever-expanding universe.

As the release date of Doomsday looms (in theaters December 18), fans still hope they’ll get answers to their biggest questions. Here are 10 of ours.

1. Will Monica Rambeau be able to come home?

At the end of The Marvels in 2023, Beast (Kelsey Grammer) told Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) that her sacrifice against the Kree leader Dar-Benn (Zawe Ashton) had landed her on Earth-10005. Knowing that we’ll see Beast return in Doomsday alongside other X-Men from Earth-10005 like Cyclops (James Marsden), Professor X (Patrick Stewart), Nightcrawler (Alan Cumming), and Mystique (Rebecca Romijn), we wonder if they’ll repatriate Monica on their journey to Earth-616.

2. Will we learn more details about Shang-Chi’s rings?

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings left us on a crazy cliffhanger in 2021: Wong (Benedict Wong), Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), and Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) discovered the titular rings had a beacon inside that was actively transmitting a message. But to whom? And why? And where did the weapons even come from?

At 2026’s San Diego Comic-Con, Simu Liu teased that we’ll be seeing a more matured version of Shang-Chi who’s “become quite familiar with the rings.” Has this development stemmed from a newfound clarity about their power? We need to know!

3. Is the Doctor Doom in Fantastic Four: First Steps the real one?

Doctor Doom is known for his “Doombots”: robots created to almost perfectly replicate the villain himself. Our first real glimpse of Doctor Doom in the current MCU was in the mid-credits scene of the 2025 Fantastic Four film. Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby) saw her son, Franklin, interacting with a green-cloaked man holding the character’s iconic mask. But the Fantastic Four is considered to be Doctor Doom’s biggest enemy — would he allow himself to be so close to them? Or did he send a disposable robot in his stead?

4. Will Wong return in Avengers: Doomsday?

With a run of appearances in Shang-Chi (2021), Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022), Wong quickly became a recurring fixture in the canon. However, he seems to have disappeared from Marvel projects. Fingers crossed Kevin Feige hasn’t forgotten him.

5. Why is Steve Rogers back?

We thought Steve Rogers’ (Chris Evans) story had come to a close in Avengers: Endgame (2019) when he returned to the 1940s, which made him almost 100 years old in our current timeline. In Doomsday, we know he’s back as his young self and now has a baby. How and why has Steve suddenly returned to the present?

6. Who are the actual Avengers?

Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) announced the debut of “The New Avengers” at the end of Thunderbolts* (2025), but we know that Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), as Captain America, leads his own Avengers team, which includes at least him and Joaquin Torres (Danny Ramirez) as the Falcon.

In a Thunderbolts* post-credits scene, Sam sued the Thunderbolts for their use of the Avengers name, hinting at some contention. And we still don’t know if the rest of the Avengers who were involved with the original group are automatically “rolled over” to Sam’s new team, like Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth). Guess we’ll find out soon enough!

7. Where are all the women?

Of the 30 confirmed characters in Avengers: Doomsday, only five of them are women. Post-Endgame, Marvel gave us a slate of new female heroes and villains, including She-Hulk (Tatiana Maslany), Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani), Echo (Alaqua Cox), Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld), Ironheart (Dominique Thorne), and Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn). Why aren’t they helping the multiverse?

8. How are these teams going to work together?

A few different teams join forces for Doomsday: the Thunderbolts (or the New Avengers), the Avengers, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, and the Wakandans. These teams have rarely interacted, if at all. A teaser for Doomsday shows Wakandans, led by Shuri (Letitia Wright) and M’Baku (Winston Duke), meeting the Fantastic Four — but other than that, all these heroes basically live in their own worlds. Will all three hours of Doomsday be about these heroes somehow coming together as a team?

9. Might we see Deadpool return?

At Marvel’s iconic Hall H presentation during 2026’s San Diego Comic Con, guests saw an unexpected special guest: Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds). That seemed to imply that he really wanted to be in Doomsday, asking if there might be some “last-minute additions” to the cast. Also, Doomsday footage showed Doom commanding an army of Sentinels: mutant-hunting robots that last appeared in Deadpool & Wolverine. If Channing Tatum‘s Gambit and the Sentinels are two things from Deadpool & Wolverine that are destined to return in Doomsday, might one (or both) of the movie’s main characters make cameo appearances in this film?

10. What’s left of Kang’s legacy?

At the end of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023), the Council of Kangs assembled, vaguely hinting that the Avengers must be punished for interfering with the multiverse. Originally, Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors) was meant to be the big villain of the post-Endgame cinematic universe, but the character was scrapped due to domestic violence charges against Majors.

His role as the big bad was replaced with Doctor Doom. So do the Avengers still pose the same threat to the multiverse? And if so, will it now be up to Doctor Doom to set the sacred timeline right?
