‘Ghosts’ Stars Preview Holiday Specials, 100th Episode & More from New York Comic Con

Ghosts may not return to TV screens until the end of October, but the stars were full of teases when they stopped by TV Insider’s studio at New York Comic Con.

Utkarsh Ambudkar, Sheila Carrasco, Rebecca Wisocky, and Devan Chandler Long were on site to discuss the CBS comedy, which will return full time in the midseason after airing two holiday specials for Halloween and Christmas this fall. As for what viewers can expect from the specials, we do know there’s a Die Hard twist in store for the Christmas installment, in which Carrasco jokes, “Utkarsh’s arms get bigger and bigger throughout the episode.”

All jokes aside, Ambudkar notes, “We’re frustrating our fans a little bit this season, and we know it, making them wait until the new year for our season to start officially, and we know Ghosts fans are diehards. They sort of rely on us for their comfort every Thursday, and we appreciate that so much. So with these specials, we’re trying to give you two mini movies that are both genre — one’s a horror comedy, one’s an action comedy — to hopefully tide them over until the season starts in earnest.”

Ambudkar also promises that with the show’s return, “some of the questions that need answering about our beloved characters finally get answered.”

As for what the vibe at Woodstone is with Pete (Richie Moriarty) missing and Sam (Rose McIver) off working on a movie, the team talks about the addition of Ben Feldman‘s Kyle, who is a series regular in Season 6. “We have a new family member in Ben Feldman, who I think the fans have already grown to love…  It’s kind of like a little, my two ghost dads, the two of them have a really lovely buddy comedy thing,” Wisocky adds of the bond fans will see between Jay (Ambudkar) and Kyle. “It’s not a dissimilar vibe from having Sam around. I mean, the ghosts are reprehensible to both Kyle and to Sam.”

“We brought Ben into the group chat,” Long reveals.

“Yeah, well, we started a new group chat…” Carrasco corrects, to which the group laughs.
