Dylan Dreyer seemingly shared a major update about her divorce from Brian Fichera.
In July 2025, the Today meteorologist announced via Instagram that she and her estranged husband had quietly separated a few months prior. “We began as friends, and we will remain the closest of friends,” she wrote at the time. “Most importantly, we will continue to co-parent our three wonderful boys together with nothing but love and respect for one another.”
Dreyer and Fichera wed in 2012 and later welcomed three kids (Calvin, Oliver, and Rusty). News broke in March that Dreyer had officially filed for divorce from her ex.
On the Thursday, October 15, episode of The Parent Chat podcast, Dreyer appeared to confirm that her divorce had been finalized while talking about living with her mother, Linda Bullington. “As you know, I’m recently divorced. So, my mom has been staying with me for months at a time,” she told listeners. “But I heard somewhere once that grandparents who spend a lot of time with their kids live longer. And I can see why.”
She continued, “You have something else to live for, and you’re responsible for little kids again. And you can do it in a way where yes, you still have to play by the rules of the house — like, my mom pretty much sticks to my rules — but they’re also not your kids, so you can get away with a little bit more. But it does raise the question: How do you live with your mom?”
Earlier in the episode, Dreyer said she’s grateful to have her mom around to help out with her kids post-divorce. “We’ve figured out this dance over the last several months of her living with me, of what I do versus what she does,” she explained. “And it’s a lot easier for me to find the patience and to handle the wildness of the boys when they first come home from school. … I can focus on the kids, and she focuses on the mess, and it’s like this little dance we do in the kitchen that works out so perfectly.”
Living with her mom is also a situation Dreyer said she never expected to find herself in. “I don’t think a couple of years ago, my mom ever thought that she would be kind of living with me, emptying out backpacks, cleaning off the lunchboxes, and helping me run everybody around,” she said during the episode. “But it is what it is. And now, she’s here, and I honestly don’t know what I would do without her.”
Earlier this year, Dreyer opened up about how her relationship with Fichera has gotten “better” since their split. “We’re both the same people we always were, but without the things that went wrong in our relationship,” she shared in a June interview with Parents. “And if you remove those from the relationship, there’s really nothing to fight over. If you think about your friendships, you don’t really fight unless something big happens between you two. So now it’s just easy, and I want our boys to see that.”

Sharing more insight about the divorce, Dreyer added, “I think the older generation will say ‘stay together for the kids.’ But my situation is ‘separate for the kids’ because they see us happier, they see us more lighthearted, and they see joy whenever we are there to celebrate the kids. At the end of the game, we go our separate ways, and they see that it’s fine, because we’ll come together again the next day.”
