What To Know

  • Dancing With the Stars fans think Brandon Armstrong is cursed when he wears yellow on the show.
  • He and Ciara Miller were eliminated after he wore an outfit with yellow details.
  • Armstrong previously also went home on nights when he wore yellow during his performance.

Brandon Armstrong faced another early elimination on Dancing With the Stars when he and partner Ciara Miller were the fifth team sent home on Season 35. After the episode aired, many of his supporters were quick to blame his outfit choice for what went down.

Fans have noticed that Armstrong has gotten eliminated from DWTS when he was wearing a yellow outfit multiple times. Last week, his maroon vest had yellow stripes on the bottom, and his bowtie was maroon and yellow. Armstrong and his wife, Brylee Armstrong, have leaned into the speculation about a “yellow curse” by jokingly addressing it in social media posts.

Of course, correlation does not imply causation, but fans are right to point out that this isn’t the first time Armstrong has been eliminated while wearing yellow. In Season 34, he and Lauren Jauregui went home while they were decked out in yellow outfits.

It all started, though, when he was partnered with Lele Pons in Season 32. Many fans felt their elimination was premature, and Armstrong was notably wearing a bright yellow jacket for the team freestyle dance the week they were sent home.

This has mostly just become a social media joke more than anything else, but fans are now begging Armstrong to not wear any yellow if he’s on the show in upcoming seasons! Since he’s never taken home the Mirrorball trophy, his supporters are really hoping that a win is in his future.

Following Armstrong and Miller’s elimination, there are now 11 couples left vying for this season’s Mirrorball. And while Armstrong is no longer in the competition, he’s still part of the DWTS family, and traveled to Washington D.C. to dance during the Banana Bowl this weekend (Season 35 contestant Jackson Olson played in the baseball game).

Plus, Armstrong and the other eliminated pros are still part of the group numbers during the live shows, so we’ll still be seeing him on our screens!
