‘Sister Wives’ Christine, Janelle & Meri Brown Reunite for ‘First Conversation in Years’
What To Know
- Christine, Janelle, and Meri Brown reunited for the first time in years on the latest episode of Sister Wives.
- Each woman separated from polygamist Kody Brown over the past few years.
- The reunion was marked by both nostalgia and tension.
Sister Wives stars Christine Brown Woolley, Janelle Brown, and Meri Brown met face-to-face for the first time in years on the second episode of the TLC show’s 21st season.
The three women, who each separated from polygamist Kody Brown over the past few years, got together to reflect on their time as a plural family. According to Janelle, it was the first time the three of them had been in the same room since Season 17, when Christine walked out of a family meeting.
There was apprehension ahead of the reunion, especially for Christine, who has previously said she wasn’t interested in maintaining a relationship with her fellow former sister wives. “I’m here for a purpose. I’m not really here to socialize,” Christine said, per People, noting that she simply wanted to get some photos from Meri.
The trio came together and reminisced over old photos, many of them featuring Kody and their children. “His children were his center of his universe back then,” Janelle stated. “And I mean he loved us; he loved his wives. But his children were his joy. He loved them.”
Things appeared to be going well until Meri and Janelle suggested recreating an old portrait. Christine wasn’t on board because she felt the photo represented the “hierarchy of wives”: Meri, Kody’s first wife, at the top; Janelle, his second wife, in the middle; and Christine, his third wife, at the bottom.
“I was just last. I was put on the bottom,” she said.
Meri added, “It’s really unfortunate that it has caused those kinds of emotions with her, and I feel bad for that.”
Despite the tension, Meri added that she was happy the three of them could come together and remember some of the good times.
“Once a family splits up, it’s easy to just go into all the hard times and all the anger and all the challenges through plural marriage,” she shared. “It’s so good to be reminded in this moment of all the good things too. We know our history, we know our past, we know where we are with each other.”
Janelle shared similar sentiments, saying, “I don’t really want to go back and do it again, but I’m really happy about the family we’ve built, so it’s worth it.”
Even Christine, the most apprehensive about the reunion, expressed similar thoughts. “I am who I am today because of my past and the people that were in it and the choices that I made while I was there,” she said. “So Meri and Janelle were definitely part of that.”
