Alleigha Botner, the mistress of convicted killer Caleb Flynn, has denied allegations that she helped the former American Idol contestant plan his wife’s murder.
Earlier this week, Caleb (40) was sentenced to life in prison after a jury found him guilty of murdering his wife, Ashley Flynn, while she slept inside their Ohio home in February. He was accused of shooting Ashley in the head while she was sleeping and while their two daughters, Ava (10) and Alyssa (12), were sleeping in their bedrooms close by.
Caleb denied the accusations and claimed that a home intruder killed his wife. However, prosecutors argued that the former reality star murdered his wife and staged a home invasion due to his two-year affair with Botner, a 24-year-old fellow worship leader at his church.
During the trial, jurors heard from more than 100,000 text messages sent between Caleb and Botner during their 18-month affair. In several of those texts, Caleb and Botner discussed wanting to have Ashley killed.
“Do you know how badly I want to say, ‘F it’ to any rules and any barriers and just love you with my entire heart for the rest of my life. I want to kill her, Caleb. It’s so bad,” Botner wrote in one text.
“That makes two of us,” Caleb replied.
In another, Caleb told Botner, “Please hire someone to take douche [a derogatory nickname they used for Ashley] out. I need you.”
Botner responded, “So tempting.”

In another exchange, Caleb said he was “up until 4am last night crying, literally thinking of ways to kill her and not go to jail.”
Botner told him, “I’m not asking that you take her life, obviously, because that’s not what you should do, and I know you actually wouldn’t. But to make the divorce happen, it would change everything.”
In a statement to Fox News Digital, Botner’s attorney, Nick Gounaris, said his client takes “full responsibility for her actions,” adding, “The truth is that she had an affair with a married man and she said terrible things about that man’s wife. That’s what she did.”
“What the public has wrong is that she was somehow involved in the planning or execution of the murder that Caleb did on the 16th of February 2026,” he added. “That’s what the public has wrong. She takes full responsibility for her actions, but not what he was convicted of.”
Botner, who broke down while reading back some of the messages in court, said she “always meant divorce” when she told Caleb she wanted Ashley “gone.”
“I think the reason that she wasn’t charged is just because you say something, you still have to show that that person was somehow involved,” Gounaris continued. “The evidence that was reviewed, the evidence that was developed, the evidence that they secured through all of these different avenues did not suggest anything that involved Alleigha Botner in the death of Ashley Flynn.”
