What To Know

  • Chuck Lorre used his signature end-of-show vanity card on Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage to respond to a recent insult from a White House spokesperson.
  • The exchange was sparked after Lorre criticized President Donald Trump and his administration during an awards speech.

Chuck Lorre has something to say, and he’s using his signature humor and an end-of-show vanity card to say it.

The sitcom creator has unveiled a new vanity card set to air following the Season 3 premiere of CBS’ Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. The message continues Lorre’s long-running tradition of sharing personal thoughts, observations, and amusing commentary at the end of his shows.

This time, Lorre is responding to a recent personal attack from the White House.

Last week, Lorre made remarks about President Donald Trump and his administration while accepting the Founders Award at a Project Angel Food gala in Los Angeles. During his speech, Lorre criticized the administration, referred to the president with insults, and made critical comments about First Lady Melania Trump.

In response, White House spokesperson Davis Ingle told Fox News Digital that “Chuck Lorre should immediately seek psychiatric help to treat his severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome that has completely rotted his peanut-sized brain.” Rather than let the insult go unanswered, Lorre is taking his response directly to viewers through his signature end-of-episode vanity card.

The “Chuck Lorre Productions #789” vanity card reads:

“A spokesperson for the White House recently announced that I need psychiatric help. I don’t disagree. I’m not a big fan of mood-altering drugs or electroshock therapy, you know, Cuckoo’s Nest stuff, but I would be up for a chat with a trained professional who gently encourages me to seek out childhood experiences that negatively impact my thinking and behavior. (A possible culprit could be weekly atomic bomb drills in grade school. This involved hiding under my desk to avoid being cut to ribbons from the classroom windows imploding.) It might also be worth investigating if toxins in my environment bear any responsibility for my ‘derangement.’ (Can’t ignore all those mesothelioma commercials.) Regardless of how we proceed, I do appreciate this very public concern for my mental health. It’s comforting to know my government is looking out for me.”

The new vanity card arrives just days before the October 13 release of Lorre’s book, Sitcom: A Memoir.

Meanwhile, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage returns for Season 3 Thursday, October 8, at 8/7c on CBS, with episodes also streaming on Paramount+.
