‘The Price Is Right’ Fans Complain About This Big Season 55 Change
Since Season 55 of The Price Is Right kicked off, fans noticed one big change — there has only been one model per episode. Many fans complained about the change.
This season, each episode features host Drew Carey, one model, and announcer George Gray helping out the model. The models on the game show include James O’Halloran, Rachel Reynolds, Amber Lancaster, Devin Goda, Alexis Gaube, and Manuela Arbeláez.
Their jobs on the show are to present the prizes and assist with each game. For example, they showcase and present the prizes, open doors, highlight features of cars and trips, and interact with contestants during pricing games.
In the past, the episodes have had two to three models on each episode, but this season has only had one so far for each episode. Now, some of the prizes are shown on a screen on set instead of being there in real life.
The reason for this is not known, but some fans speculate it is due to budget cuts from CBS. But when a model needs a helping hand, Gray acts as one of the models during the game while also doing his announcing duties.
Fans have complained about the change online almost daily since the season started. “I’m not a fan of the new one-model format! I can’t believe a show as successful as The Price Is Right needs to cut the model’s hours,” a Facebook user in the group, TPIR Fans, shared on September 25.
“I agree,” another said.
“Only having one model at a time makes it a little clumsy and awkward, especially when George has to fill in. Don’t like it,” a fan commented on a different post.
“For me, I’m a little disappointed, but there’s no way it’ll stop me from watching. It’s still my favorite show,” a fourth added.
“Very disappointed,” many said.
“It’s getting difficult to watch,” one fan wrote.
“I have been watching this show since 1973. This is the worst format ever. CBS better make changes quickly,” one last fan said.
“I’m gonna miss the Rachel & Manuela Show,” a Reddit user said.
“I wish it could go back to how it was,” another commented.
“I haven’t been watching it because of the changes,” one last fan said.
However, some fans said they are “unfazed” and that it is the “same show” and doesn’t affect them watching it.
