‘Good Morning America’s Tory Johnson Gets Emotional Over On-Air Family Surprise

Tory Johnson celebrated more than one special moment on the Tuesday, October 6, episode of Good Morning America.

This week marks 15 years since the launch of Johnson’s “Deals & Steals” segment on the ABC morning show. “It is the 15th anniversary of all of this that you got started,” Lara Spencer remarked on Tuesday, to which Johnson replied, “It’s pretty amazing.”

During the day’s “Deals & Steals” segment, Johnson shared great deals on a variety of products, such as jewelry, purses, loungewear, kids’ costumes, pillows, and blankets. Before Johnson wrapped up the segment, Spencer chimed in with a special surprise for her colleague.

“Tory, you know it’s a very big week. And as we celebrate this milestone, obviously, you didn’t think you were getting away without a few surprises, of course,” she stated. “We want to bring out some of the people who have supported Tory over the past 15 years, your biggest champions. Come on out!”

Several members of Johnson’s family walked out into the GMA studio, surprising her with hugs and a bouquet of flowers. “You’re supposed to be in school!” she said to one of her younger loved ones.

Tory was particularly surprised that her husband, Peter Eric Johnson, stopped by the show to celebrate her big moment. ​​“Peter’s never been on GMA before!” she exclaimed, hugging him.

Tory thanked her family, stating, “You guys, I love you.” Spencer wrapped up the segment by teasing more excitement, telling Tory, “We have plenty more surprises in store as we celebrate all week long.”

Off the small screen, Tory shares her twins, Emma and Jake, with her husband. “32 years, baby! Happy anniversary to my sweet Peter,” she captioned a wedding anniversary tribute via Instagram back in June.

Peter’s on-air GMA surprise comes less than a week after Tory celebrated his birthday via Instagram. “It’s not even 9am and he’s already brought me coffee, emptied the dishwasher, walked the dogs, made our bed — and it’s his birthday!” she wrote alongside a photo of her husband on Saturday, October 3. “Cheers to Peter. I love you.”
