A little over a month after Karoline Leavitt left her position as White House press secretary, she has landed a new job as an on-air contributor at Fox News.
As first reported by The New York Times, Leavitt is expected to start in her new role on November 1. She is the latest in a string of former Trump administration officials to join Fox News, including fellow former press secretary Kayleigh McEnany and former financial official Larry Kudrow.
“Karoline’s firsthand experience in the White House and on the presidential campaign trail gives her a distinct understanding of today’s political landscape,” Suzanne Scott, CEO of Fox News Media, said in a statement. “We look forward to her providing our audience with authentic and sharp insight across all Fox News Media platforms.”
In her own statement, quoted in the Times, Leavitt promised to provide “the unique perspective and candor that defined my tenure with the Trump administration” in her new position at Fox News.
President Trump announced Leavitt’s departure as press secretary on social media back in August, noting that she was leaving her role to spend time with her young children and family, “a decision I totally understand and respect.”
He added, “Karoline will now be one of my top outside advisors, and an influential voice within the Republican Party.”
Leavitt, who welcomed her second child with husband Nicholas Riccio in May, shared her own statement on X at the time, describing her job as “the honor and adventure of a lifetime.”
“Being a mother and welcoming a new baby while working in one of the most demanding jobs in the world has been the most rewarding yet challenging season of my life, to say the least,” she continued.
“The truth is since returning to the White House after the birth of my daughter, I have felt in my heart that I cannot be the best mom my two young children deserve while devoting the constant time, energy, and attention required of the White House Press Secretary – and that is why I have ultimately made the bittersweet decision to depart the White House and embark on a new chapter in my life.”
