Saturday Night Live‘s cold open took aim at President Donald Trump and Republican midterm ads.

On the Saturday, October 3 episode of SNL, the cold open kicked off with a variety of ad spots campaigning for MAGA candidates.

The skit began with Secretary of State Marco Rubio (Marcello Hernández) filming a commercial entirely in Spanish to explain that he and his fellow Spanish-speaking voters were “tricked” by Trump.

“Oh, my God! He tricked us!” Rubio said. “And he tricked me too!” before lamenting the war in Iran, strikes on Venezuela, verbal attacks on Canada, and Trump’s diet of hamburgers and chicken nuggets.

After skipping over Vice President JD Vance (Jeremy Culhane), they wheeled out Sen. Mitch McConnell (Mikey Day), who stared blankly before flashing a peace sign.

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth (Colin Jost) then walked out and shot-gunned a beer.

“What’s up, schlong donkeys?” he said. “Now listen up, OK? Because I need all you patriots at home to do the gayest thing ever and vote. Because thanks to me, the military finally has its priorities and sexuality straight.”

Hegseth’s ad featured a “weird slam poetry” session, during which he chanted, “No weak, no woke, no DEI, no guy-on-guy. So fatsos, no fuggos, no camel toes. No weirdos, no beardos, no Jills who became Joes.”

Just when the folks running the commercial filming thought they were done, Trump (James Austin Johnson) walked out and declared, “Wrong! Let me cook.”

“We’re getting boned out there, but not for long because I have a solution,” the POTUS proclaimed. “If the Republicans win, I’ll give everyone $5,000. And that is not a bribe because I have no intention of following through on that promise.”

Trump continued, “So just pretend I’m on the ballot, OK? You have to use something that’s called imagination. Imagination makes a MAGA nation.”

To that, the president quipped, “I can already see that written on the back of an obese woman’s booty shorts in dirty, disgusting Myrtle Beach. What a hellhole this country is. It’s full of awful people.”

When asked to record a victory message, Trump exclaimed, “We did it, we won! Nobody has ever won so much before.”

And when asked to record a message in case Republicans lose the midterms, he repeated, “We did it, we won!” before declaring, “And live from New York, it’s Saturday Night!
