What To Know

Dakota Johnson‘s Saturday Night Live monologue was just crashed by her BFF and “therapist” Taylor Swift.
On the Saturday, October 3 episode of SNL, the Verity actress joked about her dating history filled with musicians during her opening monologue. (They include Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Role Model, Matthew Hitt, Machine Gun Kelly.)
Thankfully, Johnson has friends who “don’t judge me for dating these men.” That’s when she introduced “my literal therapist,” Swift.
“I’m not your therapist, actually,” Swift pointed out. “You just show up once a week at my house with an empty bottle of wine and ask if I want some.”
The “Pink Clouding” songstress then described the true nature of their relationship: “You flop on my couch and overshare, and every so often I just say, ‘Damn, that’s crazy.’ And then I go, ‘Oh, it’s getting late. I should probably go to bed.’ And then you say…”
“Sleepover! Yay!” Johnston exclaimed.
Swift nodded her head and added, “And then I give you Pedialyte, and my security drives you home.”
After Johnson pointed out that she’s “doing a public service” by dating musicians, she joked, “Ladies, I’m saving you a lot of money on Zoloft. So you’re welcome, America!”
She continued, “And also England, and parts of Ireland, and Cleveland,” the last of which was a reference to Swift’s husband, Travis Kelce.
Swift’s SNL cameo came on the heels of releasing her music video for “Patient Zero,” featuring Johnson and Colin Farrell. It also came on the eve of Johnson’s 37th birthday and marked her third time hosting the NBC sketch comedy series.
Meanwhile, Swift, 36, hosted once back in 2009 and served as the musical guest five times. She also made a cameo in October 2023, during which she introduced the musical guest, Ice Spice. (Swift and Ice Spice collaborated for a remix of her song “Karma” that year.)
Saturday Night Live, Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC
