What Happened Between Ruby Rose & Katy Perry? The Allegations, Explained
Ruby Rose is making headlines amid her time on Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test. During last week’s premiere episode, Oliver Hudson brought up allegations that Rose recently made against Katy Perry.
While Rose has not discussed the situation herself on the show, her time as a recruit is certainly bringing the past accusations back to light. Scroll down for a refresher and to find out where things stand now.
What did Ruby Rose accuse Katy Perry of?
In April 2013, Rose accused Perry of sexual assault. She said that the alleged incident took place at Spice Market Nightclub in Melbourne, Australia.
“She didn’t kiss me,” Rose wrote on Threads, per Variety. “She saw me ‘resting’ on my best friends lap to avoid her and bent down, pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her disgusting vagina on my face until my eyes snapped open and I projectile vomited on her.”
Rose said that at the time she re-framed the tale to be a “funny little drunk story” because she “didn’t know how else to handle it.” She also alleged, “Later she agreed to help me get my US visa. So I kept it a secret. But I DID tell yall she wasn’t a good person.”
The Orange Is the New Black star noted that she was in her 20s at the time of the alleged incident. “It has taken almost 2 decades to say this publicly,” she admitted. “Though I am so grateful to have made it long enough to find my voice, it just shows how much of an impact trauma and sexual assault takes. Thank you for seeing me.”

This came after Rose publicly called out Perry in 2017 after the singer released the track “Swish Swish,” which was speculated to be about Taylor Swift, whom Perry was feuding with at the time. Rose called the song “cheap” and “mean spirited,” among other insults.
After making the sexual assault allegations, she said, per People, “[Katy is] more than welcome to sue me (she won’t, because it happened, I have photos and it was literally in public and witnessed by multiple people). Plus there is so much more that happened in the years leading up to her silly song she won’t want me discussing. The psychological manipulation was strong with that one.”
What did Katy Perry say about Ruby Rose’s allegations?
Perry has vehemently denied Rose’s allegations against her. In a statement issued via her rep, she said, “The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous, reckless lies.”
The statement continued, “Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named.”
Is Ruby Rose suing Katy Perry?
While Rose is not suing Perry, the Victoria Police confirmed that they are investigating the allegations.
“Melbourne Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT) detectives are investigating a historical [alleged] sexual assault that occurred in Melbourne in 2010,” the department said in a statement. “Police have been told the [alleged] incident occurred at a licensed premises in Melbourne’s [central business district].”
Per Entertainment Weekly, Rose also confirmed on Threads that she had spoken to investigators. “As of this afternoon, I have finalized all of my reports,” she said. “This means I am no longer able to comment, repost, or talk publicly about any of those cases, or the individuals involved. It’s going to look like I am ignoring everything from supportive messages, to other people’s experiences, but I’m not. This is a standard request from the police and in many ways, quite the relief. I can start the healing process now. And temporary move forward.”
No updates have been given since, and it appears the investigation is still ongoing.
