Kelly Clarkson is putting her dating life on hold to focus on spending time with her kids.
The multi-time Grammy winner opened up about her romantic life on the latest episode of the Las Culturistas podcast, where hosts Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang asked if she was currently dating anyone. Clarkson revealed that she’s single right now and prioritizing her children, River (12) and Remington (10).
“My kids right now, I think there’s a lot behind that, but I think that would rock their boat a little bit,” she said, per Entertainment Weekly. “And honestly, this is not a bulls*** answer. I love my life right now. Like, it just got to where I am not exhausted at every point of it.”
Clarkson, who ended her daytime talk show on August 31, said that at this stage in her life, she doesn’t want to give up any time. “I feel like if you’re going to be in a relationship, you have to be willing to give some of your time up. And I am unwilling,” she shared.

Speaking about her kids, whom she shared with her late ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, Clarkson said, “We’re having fun, and we’re cooking, we’re playing games. I’m there at pickup, or I’m there dropping off. I’m there.”
The Houston native also spoke about raising her children in New York and her appreciation for the “different cultures” across the city. “I wasn’t really exposed to anything like that,” she explained. “Like, I love where I grew up. Obviously, I turned out alright, but I just meant it’s a cool thing for them to have just every color of the rainbow, every color of personality, everything.”
Clarkson previously paid tribute to her kids on her talk show, airing a sweet montage on the 1000th episode. “River and Remy, I love you so much. I’m so proud of you both,” she said. “They’re just fearless and very bold. They’re more like me as an adult, not what I was like as a child, so they talk a lot too. You are what I’m liking today, my little ones, and every day I love them so much.”
Last August, Clarkson’s ex-husband, music producer Brandon Blackstock, died of cancer at age 48. The American Idol winner filed for divorce from Blackstock in 2020, and their split was finalized in 2022.
