‘Best Medicine’ Team Previews Greg & George Anxieties
Exclusive
When it comes to this charming dramedy, restaurant and inn owners Greg (Stephen Spinella) and George (Jason Veasey) are often a source of humor. But in Best Medicine‘s Tuesday, October 13, episode, there’s drama for the married couple. When TV Insider was on set in upstate New York this summer, they were shooting a scene in the Salty Breeze to tee up just that.
“Sometimes with couples, a small fight can end up becoming very big because it’s illuminating a larger insecurity or conflict,” exec producer Liz Tuccillo says. In their case, “an innocent lobster roll” leads to concerns about their age difference (in real life, Veasey is 46 and Spinella is 69). That concern occurs “on both their parts,” notes Veasey. Spinella adds that we’ll also see them have “particular anxieties about their lives together.”
Meanwhile, Martin (Josh Charles) keeps trying to head to Boston to visit his girlfriend, Eden (Eliza Coupe), for the weekend, only for patients to keep him docked in Port Wenn. “He tries throughout the episode to go. That’s part of the humor of this, right? He makes every effort to go, but there is one twist at the end where he does have the option to go,” EP Rodney Ferrell teases. “It’s the first clear sign that this [relationship] may not be the right thing for Martin.”

That could be good news for fans who want to see the good doctor with school principal Louisa (Abigail Spencer).
Plus, Sheriff Mark (Josh Segarra) finally walks at graduation, something we learn is very important to him and how it’s “affected him throughout his life,” says Tuccillo. Expect “so many” Mark and Martin scenes as a result.
And Sarah (Annie Potts) begins renting out her spare room, with her ex-paramour Eddie (Terrence Mann) as her first guest, after he tricks her. “It’s going to become clear that she’s not ready,” Tuccillo tells us. Adds Ferrell, it’ll force Sarah to face “intimacy issues that are similar to [her nephew Martin’s].”
