Chad Lowe & Kim Painter’s Daughter Fiona Dies at 13: ‘She Was the Light of Our Lives’

Actor Chad Lowe and producer Kim Painter’s daughter, Fiona Hepler Lowe, has died at 13 years old, according to a statement from the Lowe family.

“We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona,” the family said in a statement. “She was a loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance. She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives.”

The statement continued, “Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time.”

A cause of death was not revealed, but the Lowes concluded their message saying, “If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, please reach out to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988.”

Chad, the brother of actor Rob Lowe, and Kim welcomed Fiona on November 16, 2012. She was the couple’s second child, after their eldest daughter, Mabel, was born in May 2009 and their youngest, Nixie, in March 2016.

Back in November, Chad marked Fiona’s 13th birthday in a sweet Instagram post, writing, “Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!! Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!”

Chad, known for his roles in Life Goes On, ER, 24, and Pretty Little Liars, previously spoke about his daughters’ strength after the family lost their home in the Palisades Fire in January 2025.

In an Instagram post sharing photos of the wreckage, the actor wrote, “Almost a month after we evacuated our girls finally got to go back to see what’s left of their home. The way they’ve handled this whole devastating experience is nothing short of remarkable. I am in awe of their spirit and resilience. Helping them navigate these tough times is my sole purpose. Being their dad is my life’s greatest joy and privilege.”

Chad most recently appeared alongside his brother in 9-1-1: Lone Star, playing the half-brother of Rob’s Owen Strand. He also serves as a director on the series, plus its spinoffs.
