‘Wheel of Fortune’: Seth Rogan Lookalike Loses $73,000 After Plea to Ryan Seacrest
A Wheel of Fortune contestant tried to get more money for the family after losing $73,000. He made a cheeky plea to Ryan Seacrest for the show to recruit his sister to appear on a future episode.
Gabe Raskin, from St. Louis, Missouri, played against Carly Williams, from Tyler, Texas, and Latasha Hines, from Miramar, Florida, on September 25. Raskin, a laid-back guy who hosts trivia regularly at local bars, solved both Toss-ups, giving him $3,000.
There were only a few letters on the board when he solved the first puzzle — “Pulling a Rabbit Out of A Hat” — for $5,750. Raskin also solved the Words With Friends Crossword puzzle with the category “Spider ____.” He solved “Man, Monkey, Webs, Plant” for $1,000, giving him $6,750.
With only three letters left to solve, Raskin solved the Prize Puzzle — “Oceanfront Retreat.” He won a trip to the Dominican Republic and $21,272.
Williams, a woman who lives in a crazy neighborhood where she likes to party every weekend, solved two of the three Triple Toss-ups. Hines, a pickleball fan, solved the third.
After struggling on the final puzzle, Raskin finally solved “I Got That Friday Feeling” for an additional $12,000. He ended with $33,972.
Hines took home $2,000. Williams had $4,000. Raskin chose “Phrase” for his Bonus Round category.
Wheel of Fortune gave Raines “R,S,T,L,N, and E.” He rounded out his puzzle with “C,H,M, and A.”
Raskin, who sometimes gets confused for Seth Rogen, brought his step-mom, Sophia, and his sister, Cassie, with him. “Cassie, I met her earlier, and she was telling me she wants to be a contestant on the show,” host Ryan Seacrest said.
“Yeah. I think you should put her on,” Raskin said. This made Cassie laugh.
“Well, thank you,” Seacrest replied. “To the casting department, get Cassie on one of these shows. If it runs in the family, you’re going to be very good.”
The puzzle then looked like “_EL_E_E THE H_ _E.” The game show contestant talked it out and said, “Something the Home.” The puzzle was “Believe the Hype.”
