‘Outlander: Blood of My Blood’ Sneak Peek: Ellen Confronts Colum & Dougal After Attack on Brian
Outlander: Blood of My Blood is boiling some blood between the MacKenzies as Ellen (Harriet Slater) attempts to settle back into life at Castle Leoch in TV Insider’s exclusive first look at the next Season 2 episode, “The Veil of Time.”
As viewers will recall, in the premiere, Ellen returned to her clan’s home after her love, Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy), was called into action by the light of the fiery cross, and she worked to steer bloodthirsty members away from his whereabouts after she previously ditched her nuptials to Malcolm Grant (Jhon Lumsden).
Now, she is confronting her brothers Dougal (Sam Retford) and Colum (Seamus McLean Ross) after they sent men after Brian even though it was promised he’d be safe. Understandably, the brothers are still bitter after she broke the wedding arrangement they’d crafted, putting them in an even worse position when Malcolm ended up dead after a run-in with Brian at the end of Season 1.

Stepping into Colum’s space, Ellen says, “You swore that no harm would come to him.”
Colum counters with a technicality, adding, “From the day I made that promise.”
“Oh, that’s a fine joke,” Ellen charged, “making promises you’d already broken.”
Colum is just as fiery in response, as he says, “And you, a Mackenzie, throwing your lot in with a bastard Fraser.”
This is when Dougal enters the mix, with a belt in hand, suggesting, “Why waste breath?”
Thankfully, for Ellen, that’s when the clan’s trusted advisor and lawyer, Ned (Conor MacNeill), arrives in an attempt to cool the rising temperatures of the testy MacKenzies, but it isn’t soon enough as threats of violence are tossed back and forth.
“Where is your brave hero now?” Dougal questions. “Cowering in some hole?”
Ellen promises, “I need no man to shield me. I came of my own will to keep this clan from ruin.”
It’s these words that land with weight against Dougal and Colum as Ellen conveys the true sense of danger they’re all in amid rebellion in Scotland. Check out the full clip above, and don’t miss the drama unfold when Blood of My Blood‘s latest episode airs on Starz this Friday.
