What To Know

  • Laura Ingraham suggested that many Republicans secretly want President Trump to lose Congress.
  • She criticized Republicans for not promoting economic growth.
  • The GOP is currently trailing Democrats in polls amid voter concerns about inflation.

Fox News anchor Laura Ingraham has a theory for why Republicans aren’t sending a stronger message ahead of the midterm elections, alleging that many of them want to see President Donald Trump lose.

The longtime news host put forward the stunning theory on Thursday’s (January 17) edition of The Ingraham Angle, where she spoke with Fox Business commentator Larry Kudlow. During the discussion, the pair touched on data the Census Bureau released this week.

“One of the most incredible statistics is the Trump administration, in one year, has grown personal incomes more than Biden in four,” Ingraham said, per Mediaite.

“That is correct,” Kudlow replied.

“Why aren’t Republicans screaming this from the rooftops?!” Ingraham responded.

Kudlow went on to share more data, saying that those in trade professions “pipefitters, electricians, welders, carpenters [are] making close to $200,000 a year.”

“Best time ever for men without college degrees,” Ingraham added.

Kudlow said he calls it “the greatest story never told,” implying that Republicans are failing to get the message out there to the wider public.

“But how many Republicans secretly want Trump to lose?” Ingraham replied before sharing her theory. “I actually think there are a lot of Republicans on the Hill who will be happy not to have the burden of having to pass legislation, Larry. They’re almost going to be relieved for a little while, at least, to be in the minority.”

She added, “I’m sorry to report that. But there’s no other explanation for why they shouldn’t be on the offense of the U.S. economy.”

The midterms are set to take place on November 3, and things currently look bleak for the GOP. The Republican Party trails the Democrats by eight points on the generic congressional ballot and is expected to lose the House majority as things stand.

This comes amid voter concerns about inflation and rising gas and grocery costs, which have spiked since Trump’s war with Iran and controversial tariffs. According to a Fox News poll released on Wednesday (September 16), more than 60 percent of Americans said soaring gas and grocery prices are a “major problem” facing families.

Earlier this month, Trump promised to pay every adult American $5,000 if the Republicans hold the House and the Senate. However, many questioned the president’s pledge, noting his previous failed promises of $2,000 rebates during his tariff policy and Department of Government Efficiency checks.
