‘Law & Order: SVU’: Jalen Brunson to Guest Star in Season 28 — Find out When

Mariska Hargitay and Jalen Brunson will be together again soon! After Hargitay became one of the very well-known faces of celebrity Knicks fans during their championship run, Brunson then appeared alongside her during the Emmys opening; she hosted the awards show.

Now, Brunson is going to guest star on Law & Order: SVU, TV Insider has learned. He’ll appear in Episode 5, airing on Thursday, November 5, at 9/8c. Details about his character are being kept under wraps. The premiere airs October 8.

Brunson will also be seen on NBC ahead of that appearance, hosting the Saturday Night Live Season 52 premiere on September 26, with musical guest KATSEYE, and when the Knicks open the season from Madison Square Garden against LeBron James and the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday, October 20.

Hargitay teased Brunson’s SVU appearance with a post on Instagram on September 16. “Now introducing YOUR 2026 New York Knicks starting lineup!!! #knicksin” she wrote in the caption. See the photo above and her post below.

Law & Order: SVU Season 28 stars Mariska Hargitay, Ice T, Peter Scanavino, Kelli Giddish, Kevin Kane, Aimé Donna Kelly, and Corey Cott.

Joining the recurring cast is J. Smith-Cameron as jury consultant Gwen Sharpe, who will be someone for Benson to talk to about how she’s feeling “disillusioned” about SVU’s work. “Benson is the boss, so when she’s despairing or disillusioned, you’re not going to really talk to your employees, the people who are your subordinates, because as much as she’s friends with them and she’s friends with Rollins [Kelli Giddish], as a good manager, you’re not going to do that. So, I like giving her somebody who’s very, very experienced in a different way, who she can sort of have these conversations with,” showrunner Michele Fazekas told us.

After the possibility of retiring came up (and was put to rest, at least for now) last season, now, Benson’s seeing how, “in some ways, nothing has changed,” the EP continued. “How does Benson push further to get justice and even sort of challenge her own ideas of what is ethical and what is the right thing to do? How far will she go to get justice? I like playing with those boundaries and pushing against them because it is a little bit of being, not despair so much, but certainly disillusioned as you can be with the justice system when things seem to be so stacked against you. I like putting her in that spot and seeing what she does with it.”
