‘Beyond the Bayou’: Jep & Jessica Use Meaningful Marker for Future Family Property

Jep and Jessica Robertson aren’t just all in on helping see the vision for Mirador and Comanche Moon realized on Beyond the Bayou. The couple made the big decision to build a property of their own on site. Although with 2,400 acres of open ranch land, Jessica will have to get used to the area to avoid getting lost. That’s what happened during the September 18 Season 1 finale as she and daughter Priscilla called Jep for help. “She doesn’t need a GPS to find a store,” Jep joked about Jessica in her city life element. 

The experience sparked an idea for the family property soon to be in the works. During the episode of the Great American Media series, sons Gus and River got a little more deeper acquainted with their new home base. Elsewhere, Lance is feeling the pressure with tight deadlines for the project to get completed.

On her adventures, Jessica saw a rock that could be a landmark to mark their future property location. Jep wanted to pick the boulder while also thinking of how he would even move it once found. Meanwhile, Gus admittedly missed his teammates, but is enjoying nature. He was in search of work to keep busy. Jep brought Gus and River over to Lance looking into ways they could contribute. Lance said there was an influencer event to encourage pictures and videos to help get the word out on what they’ve been working on. The hope was the event would bring in bookings after people see the place. River felt he and Gus could communicate and connect with the younger demographic. 

The event at Marty B’s had a great turnout filled with activity and music. Lance told the story of Mirador and how he got Jep and Jessica involved. Jep described Mirador as a place to put the phone down and just have quality fun with your kids as a family. The party had great energy, but Lance was clearly stressed about meeting the deadlines for these projects. River and Gus sold the experience of the ranch to influencer Preslee. She wanted to see it in person, so Gus and River invited her out for a visit. Later on, Preslee toured and was amazed at the whimsical features. Mattie, Lance’s daughter who is in charge of social media, helped showcase what the burrows will provide. Mattie produced a filming spot using the POV of the paper airplane. 

Tammy, project manager Dwayne’s wife and art director, met Jessica at the Gardener Burrow to discuss a recipe where people could add and take recipes to  try. Everything in the kitchen was usable inside the space, even the old fashioned stove. Jessica wanted to test out the stove by baking her “elfish” banana bread. Jep wanted to make the family meatloaf instead. So, it was decided on a little competition. Gus and River tested each to decide which entry would go into the recipe box. Gus and River voted on banana bread when their mom was around. Then they voted for the meatloaf when their dad was present. Wisely, the two played both sides of the fence. It was a tie in the end with each recipe available in the box.

Lance and Jep were still on the hunt for the right rock. They also checked out the construction site progress. The Ogre House with the Ogre Swamp was showing signs of life. It reminded Jep of Louisiana. Though, Lance could see the project was delayed, which meant having a potential tough discussion with the investors. The key was to finish the burrows and then really focus on the other areas. Jep had faith in the selling power of the finished product. The two do find the right rock. They bring Dwayne, project manager, to move it using a skid steer. The boulder would mark the Robertson property. His friend Scott spoke about the rock’s meaning on a biblical level during a phone call. 

Lance met with Dwayne and Tammy for a check in. Dwayne explained they are doing 10 and 12-hour days and working on weekends. Tammy admitted it had been challenging. Lance decided to put all hands on deck with the burrows, hoping to secure revenue from those rentals, and then leave more time to finish the Ogre properties.

The Louisiana kids and grandbabies drive up to meet with the other Robinson brood. Jessica goes  antiquing with Lily and Priscilla. She was inspired to put scriptures on their new rock marker. All the families involved came together for a gathering and reflected on the journey. During the episode, in a touching scene, Jessica revealed the baby blessing gown for Lily’s daughter Andi. It served as a family heirloom, labor of love, that will carry on over generations. 

Each Robertson painted their respective scriptures on the rock. This was a reminder why they were building the property in the first place. “Just lean into God. He’ll show you the way,” Jep said. Gus read a scripture with Jep teasing there are more adventures to come.
