What To Know

  • Jep and Jessica Robertson continued settling into life in Mingus, Texas.
  • While Jep traveled to Vancouver to speak at an All God’s Children International conference supporting orphans, Jessica held down the fort.
  • River and Gus embraced Texas cowboy culture.

Jep and Jessica Robertson continued to get acclimated with the family in Mingus, Texas on Beyond the Bayou. With that, the Texas Shire was moving forward and taking shape with the couple now fully part of the process. Ranch owner Lance had big plans that extended into the overall community known collectively as Comanche Moon. A place that would include amenities such as skeet shooting, 3D archery, a Spanish style wedding venue, and beach entry pool. He saw an overall experiential property.

While work was important, Jep had to step away on a trip during the September 3 episode of the Great American Media series. This meant Jessica would need to hold down the fort while also working on an important project. Meanwhile, brothers River and Gus were looking at getting more immersed in cowboy living. They receive some help to get their boots to the ground.

Jep was getting ready to travel to the All God’s Children International meeting in Vancouver. The organization’s main focus was to help the orphans of the world. It’s a cause near and dear to Jep’s heart as an ambassador for the organization. Despite not being a fan of public speaking, he was honored to speak at the conference. Jep didn’t want to leave the family at the moment, given all the activity. However, this was for a good reason. Gus said he would kill any spiders and possible werewolves if need be without Jep there.

Jessica had a lot on her plate. She awaited news in Louisiana regarding when her daughter Lily would give birth to another grandchild. Jessica wanted to create a blessing gown to mark the occasion. Jessica enlisted the help of Priscilla during the process, taking pride in passing down the love of sewing through the generations. Her idea was to elevate the dress by having a story attached to it with some infusion of Texas. Jessica visited a local merchant that had local antique fabrics for inspiration. It was there she got the idea to hide a personalized message in the handmade piece, which would make it especially meaningful.

Elsewhere, River wasn’t confident he had found his thing in Texas just yet. He thought about what made a cowboy. Gus suggested they needed to get belt buckles and cowboy boots. River saw Lance as someone to look at in this department. And who better to help them cowboy up than Lance’s daughters Addie and Reese. The new friends went on a shopping trip to get them styled in the spirit of the Lone Star State. Their big reveal happened during a family horseback riding trip.

Jep felt a renewed purpose at the convention. He met with the organization’s president Hollen Frazier, who spoke about carrying on the mission from her parents. Jep recalled a powerful interaction where a granddaughter was helped on a past trip. The overall trip left him more of a sense of purpose. Lance offered to use his connections to bring Jep together with someone who could help give him some ideas to build on the cause. They met up with Pastor Matt Chandler for a fishing trip. Matt spoke about how at the heart of God was caring for widows and orphans. He suggested to Jep the idea of building partnerships with newer church planners as they were always looking for these efforts. Jep liked the idea and appreciated the knowledge passed on by Matt. Overall, the Roberston family were planting more Texas roots.
